 Plastic Bag Recycling Drive

Join Keep Yankton Beautiful and Hydro for the 2nd annual Plastic Bag Recycling Drive! Although plastic bags are no longer allow allowed in Yankton’s red recycling bins, you still have a chance to keep those plastic bags out of the landfill through the Hefty® EnergyBag® Program.

Recycle a plastic bag and get a free reusable tote from Keep Yankton Beautiful & Hydro. Convenient drop-off locations are Calvary Baptist Church and Explorers Credit Union. Reduce, reuse, and recycle with KYB during this event, going on until November 15th in honor of America Recycles Day!


 Haunted History Tours

Join the Mead Cultural Education Center for an evening of the bizarre and unexplained as we explore the unsettling and real history of Yankton during the Haunted History Tours, October 22 & 23rd. Tickets are $20 for general public and $10 for Yankton County Historical Society members. Learn the history and haunts of five Yankton locations! A ticket and map will need to be picked up no later than 4pm on October 22. Purchase tickets online at


 Bark at the Park

It’s an hour of canine fun at Yankton’s dog park. Join the Heartland Humane Society for the 4th Annual Halloween Pooch Party – Bark at the Park, on Thursday, October 28th from 5:30-6:30pm. The City of Yankton, Heartland Humane Society and River City Domestic Violence Center are teaming up to bring you an evening of dog inspired carnival stations, treats, hot chocolate (for the humans) and a costume contest. Treat bags available for those who come in costume.

Please bring a free will donation of cleaning supplies be brought to the party – paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, laundry soap, cleaning rags, etc. All supplies donated will be evenly distributed between HHS and RCDVC

Sacred Heart School Holiday Vendor Blender

The Sacred Heart School Holiday Vendor Blender will be held at the St. Benedict site on November 20 from 10am to 2pm. Start your Christmas shopping early by visiting the many vendors! There will be a wide selection of items including jewelry, purses, candles, crafts, books, baked goods, home decor and SHS items.

Proceeds will benefit Sacred Heart School and will provide a variety of fantastic items to auction at the spring Gala!
