YHS Homecoming Tailgate

The YHS athletic booster club will be hosting tailgating on Friday, September 23rd at 5:30 before the Homecoming game at Crane-Youngworth Field. Serving hamburgers for a free will donation sponsored by the South Dakota Army National Guard (Haley Harvey) & Burger King. Proceeds will go directly back to the athletes.

 

Outdoor Movie

Join the Yankton Community Library for an evening to infinity and beyond! The Library is showing the newly released Disney Pixar film “Lightyear” outdoors on Saturday, September 24th at 7:30pm!

The movie will be shown in the parking lot of the Library. Please bring outdoor seating such as chairs and blankets. The library will provide treats, but you can also bring your own favorite movie refreshments. In case of inclement weather, no need to call Star Command; the movie will be moved inside the library meeting room.

Lightyear is rated PG with a runtime of 1 hour and 40 minutes. This event is free of charge, and no registration is required.

 

Drive-In Movie Night

Join The Calvary Baptist Church in Yankton for a drive-in movie night on Saturday, September 24th at 7:30pm! Come early for live music, grab some free popcorn and pop, and watch the movie SING 2 with us in the church parking lot! The movie will begin at 8:30pm.

Halloween Costume Swap

The Yankton Community Library is hosting a costume swap for the Halloween season. Find “new to you,” gently used costumes and decorations while cleaning out your closet of unused items.
Beginning Saturday, September 24th-Friday,September 30th people can donate used Halloween costumes or decorations for coupons to shop at the library’s Swap Store.

The Swap Store will be open from Saturday, Oct. 1, through Tuesday, Oct. 4, during regular library hours. Bring your coupons to shop for some Halloween finds.

Yankton Fire Department Pancake Breakfast

Join the Yankton Fire Department for their annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, September 25th at 8am-12:30pm. Located at the Yankton Fire Station #2. Serving pancakes, eggs, sausage, and beverages.

Great Bowls of Fire Chili Cook-Off

Join Habitat for Humanity of Clay & Yankton Counties for the 1st Chili-Cookoff on Thursday, September 29th from 5-8:30pm! This event is located at the Armory in Vermillion. Register your team today by contacting Linze Christensen today at (605) 260-4224 or email d.director@habitatclayyankton.org. Awards will be given out for Peoples choice for the best chili, plus raffles, drawings, & celebrity judges.

Proceeds support Habitat for Humanity Clay and Yankton Counties build affordable homes for individuals and families in our local communities.

September Bragging Rights

It’s Bragging Rights On Thursday Nights, September 29th from 5-9pm. Support the community and non profits with your love of cars! Come on out with your classic car, motorcycle, anything you have! Each month, a non profit will be serving a meal for a free will donation. Bring your lawn chairs, come out for food, friends, music and supporting our community!

BARKtoberfest

Heartland Humane Society is hosting a new Fall fundraiser, BARKtoberfest, on Saturday, October 1st from 4-7pm at Ben’s Brew Station . This event will replace the traditional gala event formally known as Wine & Whiskers.

Event goers will receive a complimentary event cup and be able to partake in all open house activities including: an interactive shelter pet art gallery, coloring contest, and trivia games. Cash raffles and the famous silent auction will also be onsite including items exclusively sold during the event. Reinvented Wheels will be providing live music and local food trucks Grind ‘n Griddle and Up in Smoke will be outside the event.

Rich Schild Fireworks Bingo

Helps raise funds while enjoying BINGO! A Bingo night will be happening on Saturday, October 8th to raise funds for the Rich Schild Memorial Fireworks at the Beseda Hall in Tabor. There will be a light lunch starting at 6:30 and Bingo will follow at 7:30. $15 per card, soft cards will be sold each game and all the sales will be matched by FCSLA.
