June Bragging Rights

It’s Bragging Rights on Thursday Night, Thursday, June 30th from 5-9pm. Support the community and non profits with your love of cars! Bring your classic car, motorcycle, or anything you have! This month, the Marine Corp League L&C Detachment 1475 will be serving walking tacos with all the fixings, cold salads, desserts, cookies, lemonade and ice tea for a free will donation.

Kids in the Park

Kids in the Park is back! Make Memorial Park part of your Saturday morning routine for some family fun! Move N’ Groove from 9:30-10:00am. During this time, local organizations will lead activities to get those kiddos up movin’ n groovin’.

Saturday, July 2nd, Live entertainment from The Zoo Man will be on the big stage from 10-10:45am. Explore More from 10:45-11:30am. At the end of the event we encourage you to walk around to the “stations” set up that day and explore a little more.

 

3rd on 3rd Block Party

Celebrating the 4th of July early with the annual 3rd on 3rd Block Party. Enjoy food and music on 3rd St. in Yankton, across from Mojo’s. The Rock Hardy’s will be playing outside starting at 7pm and Up In Smoke will be serving some amazing food starting at 5pm.

St. Helena 4th of July Celebration

It’s the Annual St. Helena 4th of July celebration on Monday July 4th. Enjoy fun for all with Co-Ed volleyball and softball tournaments & lunch stand at 8am. Supper will be served in the air conditioned Immaculate Concentration hall from 4-8pm. Serving broasted chicken, ham vegetables, salads, pies, and desserts. Plus carnival games, bingo, raffle fireworks to end the day.

 

Wine & Dine

Join the Center in Yankon for the 13th Annual Wine & Dine event on July 8th from 5:30-8:30pm. Start out the night with light snacks and wine tasting then move on to dinner and the live and silent auctions. All proceeds benefit Meals on Wheels and Center Operations. Tickets are just $35 and include the wine tasting a wonderful meal, and dessert. Purchase your tickets at The Center, located at 900 Whiting Dr. in Yankton.

 

Fire & Iron Independence Ride

Join Fire & Iron station 57 for an Independence ride on Saturday, July 9th. Registration is from 11-noon at The Boat House in Yankton. Cost is $20 per rider. A free will donation meal will be available after the ride. Final cards will be drawn at 6pm as well as a live auction. A silent auction will be going on all day. All vehicle are welcome on the ride. YAA Summer Picnic

Yankton Area Arts is hosting a family friendly, patriotic summer picnic on Tuesday, July 12th at Riverside Park. The picnic is a fundraiser for the nearly 50-year-old organization.

The ticketed event will feature food by River’s Edge, lawn games, a community art creation, a silent auction, and a raffle for a picnic quilt made by the Dakota Prairie Quilt Guild. The evening will wrap up with a concert in the Riverside Park Amphitheater featuring the Yankton Area Summer Band and Mission Essential Brass, the performance group of the SD National Guard. All proceeds will support the next phase of YAA’s Make Art Happen initiative, supplementing costs associated with tuition and uniforms for Children’s Choir, reducing costs associated with children’s theater productions and education, and purchasing art subscription boxes to be awarded to kids each month of the year.

Tickets for the summer picnic in the park are $20 for adults and $10 for kids and can be purchased at G.A.R. Hall, The Lemonade Stand, or online at www.YanktonAreaArts.org. Tickets must be purchased by July 5.

Step Forward to Prevent Suicide

It’s the 6th Annual Yankton Step Forward to Prevent Suicide on Saturday, August 6th located at Riverside Park Amphitheater. Registration beginning at 8:15 with program starting at 9:00am. Wendy Mamer will be the honorary speaker, sharing her personal story of the loss of her father to suicide. The 1.5 mile walk will begin immediately following Ceremony. Live music will be provided by Monte Gulick.
