(UPI) – A California bear visited its local library on Winnie-the-Pooh’s 100th birthday and helped itself to an appropriate snack: a jar of honey.
Mono County Free Libraries posted a video to social media showing the bear that wandered into the Mammoth Lakes branch about 6 a.m. Wednesday, which was the 100th anniversary of the first appearance of A.A. Milne’s famous bear Winnie-the-Pooh.
“Upon entering, the bear went straight for the staff snack supply, where it helped itself to peanut butter, a selection of peach cups, a pawful of cookies and — of course — one jar of honey,” the post said.
The bear perused the library shelves for a short time before leaving on its own.
“Remarkably, no damage was reported. No shelves were toppled and no books were harmed, though the honey jar has not been returned at time of publication,” officials wrote.
