Ticketmaster has responded to complaints surrounding ticket sales for a recent Harry Styles show in New York City, addressing claims that scalpers dominated the process. The company said some tickets believed to be resold at inflated prices were actually redistributed through its own system to verified fans.
Verified for April 23, 2026, Ticketmaster President Saumil Mehta confirmed on Wednesday that thousands of tickets had been canceled and will be rereleased to fans at their original face value, which was under $130. The move comes after a wave of frustration from fans who were unable to secure tickets during the initial sale.
Ticketmaster pointed to its existing safeguards, including purchase limits and the Verified Fan program, as part of its effort to reduce bot activity and unfair buying practices. The company also noted that some resale listings can come from legitimate buyers who are no longer able to attend.
The situation reflects ongoing concerns about fairness in ticketing for major live events, especially when demand quickly outpaces supply.
